Geckos are wondrous creatures. In our Bead Buddies class, we will be honoring these remarkable reptiles by crafting bead gecko keychains for you to show off. You’ll also get to take home some instructions to make your own at home! Explore the wonder of watercolor painting by learning fundamentals and techniques of this exciting medium. This course is intended for the novice to beginner; you do not need prior experience to enroll in this class. There will be a set curriculum to help you understand and feel comfortable as you discover your artistic journey using watercolors. This 5 session course will begin with a few painting exercises and finish with two completed paintings. Supply list can be found here. Course Objective: Plan to experiment and explore the traditional water color painting techniques – In this case we will be studying the personality of watercolor. What makes the watercolor do what it wants to do? This class is for the first time painter or someone who has tried watercolor before but would like to get a better understanding of how it works. Our goal is to have at least one excellent painting by the end of the session. Plan to have group critiques and discussions throughout the session. Please come prepared to discuss: Your level of experience: Novice, Beginner, etc., what art is for you, what makes a good painting, why you want to be a painter, your interest, hobbies, and just all around conversations. Our first day: We will have brief introductions to include: a discussion about the questions above, why is it called watercolor and not colored water? Getting ready to paint, and dabbling in a few watercolor painting exercises. Please bring materials with you as stated above in the supply list. Let's make some noise and have fun hitting big drums! Taiko is movement infused, heart-pounding, dynamic group drumming. Think of it as a high energy performance art that combines music, dance, martial arts, athletics, and culture. If you can count to four, you are set! Originally Japanese, taiko now is a global art form. You will use your brain and body, be social, laugh, and have fun. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. You will be guided, step-by step, through the painting process and be introduced to the art terms and techniques related to this project. In order to build our innovation and literacy skills, we will be spending the next 3 mornings creating our own board games. We’ll research different board games, write out rules, put the board games together, and spend the last day playing our new board games together. Bring your brilliance to this inventive class! If you are one of the “anti-artist” types, you will have the most fun and be the most amazed! If your painting turns out really nice, (as I am sure it will) you may want to paint more paintings similar to your original masterpiece. If you are an experienced artist, welcome. There is always much to learn. The “Eagle Flag” may be the highlight of your year! The painting will be in oil which is quite easy to work with. I will supply all the materials that you will need including paints, 16X20 inch canvas and painting supplies. Your painting will be ready for you to frame and put on your wall at home when you finish. (The Oil painting will take 4 weeks to dry but can still be put into the frame of your choice and hung immediately on your favorite wall). Frames will be available at the class.
