Learn how to care/maintain a sourdough starter, observe a bread dough making demonstration, and get answers to the most common questions made while making sourdough. You will get ALL of Sandra's tips/tricks associated with sourdough bread making focused on keeping the process simple and manageable for anyone interested in making sourdough bread. This 90 minute in-person Sourdough Starter workshop includes a fresh active starter and printed copy of the essential information for each registered participant. This educational event focuses on how seniors can safely and comfortably remain in their own homes and community. We will highlight the key differences between home care and home health services—two important but often misunderstood areas of support. Learn how home care provides personal and daily living assistance, while home health delivers skilled medical services under a doctor’s order, helping families make informed care decisions.

Using an Air Fryer to cook vegetables is quick—and the healthy results are delicious! In this live online class Kirsten will demonstrate a variety of recipes using in-season local and/or commonly available vegetables including Lemon Pepper Broccoli, Miso Sesame Kale Chips, and Roasted Sweet Potato Sticks. Participants will receive an extensive handout along with the link to join prior to class. There will be ample time for questions during the session, and participants will receive a link to the recording afterwards so you can cook along at your convenience. Alcohol Ink - Burst of the Sunflower
Art
Bring your creativity to life with the vibrant and playful medium of alcohol ink! In this class, you’ll learn how to create an abstract sunflower by layering inks for the center, shaping petals with a hand rubber blower, and adding depth with colorful highlights. Your instructor will guide you step by step as you make a 5” x 7” painting in your choice of colors. If time allows, you can create a second piece on either a white or black background. Alcohol ink is wonderfully forgiving—if you don’t love a section, simply wipe it away with isopropyl alcohol and try again. Come ready to explore, have fun, and take home a unique sunflower creation! Note: This class uses isopropyl alcohol. Supply fee: $15, payable to instructor at class. Registration for all class sessions closes 3 days before the start date. Discover the colorful and playful world of alcohol ink painting! This versatile medium is perfect for creating bold, abstract designs—and in this class, you’ll learn how to transform flowing inks into vibrant abstract roses. Using a simple hairdryer technique, you’ll move the inks across your paper, shaping petals and textures as the colors dry. Add your own creative touch by layering backgrounds, blending colors, or incorporating leaves and other details. Your instructor will guide you step by step, helping you create a unique 6” x 9” painting in your choice of colors. If time allows, you’ll even have the chance to make a second piece. The best part? Alcohol Ink: Exquisite Hydrangeas

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Abstract Art that is fun and Colorful? Alcohol Ink (AI) is a new painting technique that just screams ABSTRACT. With so many different techniques, AI will soon become a favorite medium. To make hydrangeas, you will paint using a silicone tool and AI in a palette. First, you will outline your hydrangeas to form the base. Then you will fill in the petals of each flower highlighting with white alcohol ink to create depth. To finish your painting, you will add flowing stems/leaves. Your instructor will help guide you through each step. You will have the opportunity to paint hydrangeas on a white or black background. If time permits, you can paint a second picture on the opposite color. Best part of using Alcohol Ink is if you don’t like a part of your picture, you can wipe it off with ISO alcohol. Alcohol Ink: Valley of a Thousand Flowers

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Abstract Art that is fun and Colorful? Alcohol Ink (AI) is a new painting technique that just screams ABSTRACT. First you will create a sky using alcohol ink. Next, you will create a valley using multiple green colors using a brush. Your background is now complete. The best part will be applying different colors to make your flowers. You will soon have a beautiful valley of flowers. Best part – if you don’t like a part of your picture, you can wipe it off with ISO alcohol. Once your valley of flowers is complete, you can make a second picture or play on your own. Your instructor will have ideas. Supply fee payable to instructor the night of class: $15. All Occasion Card Class
Art
In this class, you will create 25 all-occasion cards (five cards of five different designs). All materials will be cut and ready for you to stamp and assemble. Materials, envelopes and tools for you to create all 25 cards are included with registration. However, participants WILL NEED to bring their own adhesive (double stick tape, tape runner, glue stick) which can be found at most craft stores, or I will have some available for purchase the night of class. Cards may include birthday, sympathy, thank you or blank cards for your choice of sentiment. Registration for all class sessions closes 3 days before the start date. Alternate Ending
Academic
In this activity, students get to imagine a different conclusion for a story they’ve read. After discussing the original ending, they brainstorm new ways the story could finish—maybe the hero makes a different choice, a problem is solved in a creative way, or a surprising twist happens. Students can write their alternate ending as a short story, comic strip, or illustrated scene. This activity encourages creativity, critical thinking, and deeper understanding of the story’s plot and characters This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before and after school. Each school receives one free class as part of our commitment to equity. These offerings are designed specifically to increase access for students who attend that school, especially those who may not have the financial means to participate in enrichment. To support this purpose, free classes are reserved for students enrolled at the hosting school.

An Act of Kindness
Community and Cultural Exploration
During Random Acts of Kindness Week, students will focus on spreading positivity and building a caring community. Each day will feature small, thoughtful activities that encourage kindness toward others, themselves, and their environment. Examples include writing kind notes, helping a friend, creating thank-you cards for staff, and participating in group kindness challenges. This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before and after school.

Ancient Armenia
Personal Interest
After first viewing the Biblical Mt. Ararat from its capital city, Yerevan, we’ll explore Areni Cave where archeologists have unearthed a 6000 year old wine press and an array of fermenting vats and storage pots. We’ll follow the trail of prehistoric standing stones, Armenia’s Stonehenge, marching across the mountaintop, visit a pagan temple complex, and a monastery carved into a mountain And we will learn the truth about the holocaust perpetrated by the Ottoman Turks in 1915 in which 1.5 million Armenians lost their lives.

In this rainy month, students will explore the magic of rain and the science behind it! Through creative storytelling and outdoor play, students will learn how rain helps plants grow, fills our rivers, and brings new life to the world around us. This theme encourages curiosity about nature, problem-solving through exploration, and appreciation for the Earth’s natural cycles. This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before and after school. This is a low-impact, extremely light aerobic workout in shallow water that focuses on stretching and toning muscles while utilizing the resistance of the water and equipment. Get ready to take flight with imagination and innovation! Students are invited to join us for Aviation Invention Day, where they’ll step into the shoes of young engineers and inventors. Together, we’ll explore the wonders of flight through hands-on activities including designing paper planes, crafting creative aircraft models, and testing how far their inventions can soar! This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before and after school. Basic Home Repair - Electrical
Home & Family
Learn about the basic home electrical system with this Hands-on class. We will review different gauges of wire, application and discuss proper techniques for stripping wire, attaching to outlets, switches and light fixtures. You will wire up a circuit with single pole & 3-way switches, outlet and light fixture. Then we will test the circuit with proper testing equipment. Bring straight & Phillips screwdrivers, long nose pliers and wire stripping pliers to class if you have them. Handouts provided with the class. Gain confidence by learning to repair minor plumbing problems or replace fixtures yourself. We will review metal & plastic pipe, valves and fittings. Take apart different types of faucets, replace pop-up drain assembly, and discuss internal workings of the toilet. Handouts provided with the class. Beginning Taiko Class - Come Hit Big Drums!

Let's make some noise and have fun hitting big drums! Taiko is movement infused, heart-pounding, dynamic group drumming. Think of it as a high energy performance art that combines music, dance, athletics, and culture. If you can count to four, you are set! Originally Japanese, taiko now is a global art form. During this informative session, you will learn about the benefits of planning ahead, veterans' funeral benefits, burial and cremation options and costs, Medical Assistance and asset protection, and finally how to avoid common mistakes. With the knowledge gained, you will be able to make informed decisions you feel good about today and bring peace to your family when they need it most.
