These appetizers are jammed with flavors from around the world and can be a quick way to incorporate leftovers into something new and fun to eat. Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, join this club to meet and interact with other chess players in your school and play on a weekly basis. If they are new to the game, players will learn the basic rules and strategies of chess. Tournament play is encouraged outside of the club, but not required. Players are able to complete a full game and recognize a checkmate and stalemate Players can set and use a chess clock during a game Players are able to resolve a disagreement with & w/o adults present Players can explain the rules of chess (movement of the pieces, checkmate, & stalemate)

In this hands-on leadership class, upper elementary students will step into the role of mentors as they plan, lead, and reflect on fun and engaging activities for younger students. Leaders in Training empowers students to lead with kindness, take initiative, and build confidence while making a positive impact in their school community.

Healthy arteries and veins are a priority as we age because we know that when they are unhealthy – stiff and/or gunked-up – they are a key contributor to stroke and heart disease. A combination of the right food in the right quantities, along with exercise, can go a long way in keeping our cardiovascular system healthy and reducing the risk of disease, even if you have a genetic predisposition.

Build a Better Bowl with Kirsten live online using seasonal vegetables, savory proteins, and delectable drizzles. Learn about how to put your garden to bed. You will be provided information about what to do for your garden and landscape between September and February. This class is offered by the U of M Extension Master Gardener volunteers of Ramsey County, who are eager to share research-based gardening best practices with the people in their community. The ability to improve your balance and reduce fall risks is in your hands. And it is never too late. Mia Bremer is a Master Balance and Mobility Specialist who teaches FallProof! This program was developed at the Center for Successful Aging at California State Fullerton where Mia has taught the program to professionals across the country. This workshop will teach you why our risk for falling increases as we age, as well as exercises and strategies we can use to reduce those risks. This is an interactive workshop – you will be practicing skills and taking home useful information that can save you from a trip to the floor. You will also learn what to do if you end up there!

Celebrate the beauty of autumn in this hands-on woodworking workshop, where students will create a stunning wooden quilt inspired by falling leaves. Using pre-cut triangle wooden pieces, participants will learn how to assemble and arrange their shapes into a cohesive and eye-catching pattern that captures the gentle motion and color of autumn foliage. To complete your masterpiece, you'll add distinctive metal tacks that serve as decorative leaf stems, adding both texture and a touch of rustic charm. Guided by an experienced instructor, students will customize their piece with a selection of paints, stains, and finishes to reflect their personal style and the natural hues of the season. Whether you prefer bold and modern or rustic and earthy, you’ll have the tools to bring your vision to life. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and provides all necessary materials. By the end of the session, each student will leave with a unique, ready-to-hang piece of indoor décor that’s as warm and inviting as a fall day. $40 supply fee payable to instructor the night of class. Join us for an evening of creativity and teamwork at our Family LEGO Competition! This fun-filled event invites families to unleash their imagination and build unique creations using everyone's favorite building blocks. What to Expect: Team Challenges: Families will compete in various challenges, showcasing their LEGO building skills and creativity. Prizes: Exciting LEGO-themed prizes will be awarded to the winning team in each challenge. Family Fun: Enjoy activities for all ages! Each participant will create their own LEGO mini-fig to bring home. Registration: The cost to register is $45 per team. Only one participant needs to register for their family. Check-in will begin at 4:45pm and the first build competition will start at 5:00pm. Lego Swap: There will be a LEGO swap table at the event. Please bring in your gently used LEGO sets to swap them for others that are new to you! Concessions: Light refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase (cash or credit card accepted). This event is perfect for all skill levels, whether you’re a seasoned builder or just starting out.
