This course focuses on water skills for children ages 3 to 5 that are ready to swim on their own! Students will build on their water skills and grow their independence. Promoting water safety from a young age will help to keep your child safe as they become more self-confident and believe in their abilities. Skills taught: Enter & Exit water from side Blow bubbles with nose (humming) Bobbing Front float for 3+ seconds Back float for 3+ seconds Jelly fish float for 3+ seconds Roll from back to front Roll from front to back Front glide (one body length) Back glide (one body length) “Scooping” and kicking on front 5 feet Flutter kicking on back 5 feet Elementary backstroke arms 5 feet (w/ support) Swim, Float, Swim 10 feet (w/ support) Jump in (w/ support) Follows Directions Water Safety Skills Note: Students who are still working on potty training MUST wear appropriate swim diapers and plastic covers. Students will be turned away if not wearing the appropriate swim diapers/covers.Parents MUST remain in the building during lessons and should stay within eyesight of the pool for quick contact if needed.

Disco Splash!
Disco Splash! is back!Dance your heart out with our fun, high intensity aerobics class! Participants will do a combination of dance and water exercise while utilizing both shallow and deep water. Participants must pre-register online/over the phone or at the doorThis is a high impact exercise class that will have loud music playing in the background. Course is not recommended for those with limited mobility or joint issues and participants must be able to maintain balance without assistance for the duration of class.

This parenting class is based on the book No-Drama Discipline: The Whole-Brain Way to Calm the Chaos and Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind by authors Daniel J Siegel, MD and Tina Payne Bryson, PhD. You will learn about: child brain development ways to calmly connect with your child setting clear and consistent limits supports for handling tantrums how to stay focused on whole-brain parenting and discipline techniques This is a parenting-only class. You'll settle your child in the classroom to explore and enjoy activities with the early childhood teachers, then have a full hour devoted to parenting education in a separate room. Ages Birth - 8 years

Northeast Regional Open Chess Final Tournament
Academic
Elementary and secondary chess players are invited to participate in the ""NE Regional Open Chess Final". Whether you participated in a chess club or not in the fall, winter, or spring, you are invited to compete in this short, fun tournament where you can play against students representing Mounds View, St. Anthony-New Brighton and Mahtomedi school districts! Time controls will be used when necessary to keep the tournament within time constraints. The format and recognition will be based on the number of registered participants in each grade level and school. Anticipated sections will be Secondary 7th-12th, Invitational Elementary (Top Club Players), Open Elementary K-1st & 2nd-6th. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted. Tournament etiquette and procedures will be explained at the event for players new to tournament play. Players are not eliminated. Everyone plays in each round unless there is a bye because of an odd number of participants. Typically there are 4-5 rounds. Check-in will be 30 minutes before the posted start time. A great way to end of the Chess season. Concessions Available: Breakfast, Lunch & Snack Items Supervision will be provided. Parents/guardians are allow to stay, but are not allowed in the playing area and will be asked to wait in the lobby area. Mask will be required while playing across from your opponent, but optional elsewhere. This tournament is being held at Edgewood Middle School -5100 Edgewood Dr, Mounds View, MN 55112

Learn a contemporary twist on the traditional art of feltmaking. Combine silk fabric and soft wool fibers for a lightweight scarf you can wear any time of year. Explore a variety of surface design techniques and create a one-of-a-kind accessory. Some physical stamina needed for felting classes. $30 supply fee, payable to instructor, includes a hand dyed silk scarf, all fibers and supplies. Bring from home: 2-3 hand towels, 1 old bath towel and a plastic bag to carry home wet items. Optional: apron, bag lunch. Registration for all class sessions closes 3 days before the start date. Oh, You Beautiful Cake!

What could be better than chocolate, caramel, pecans, and more? In this class, you will mix, bake, and assemble a decadent 3-layer cake. With guidance from Nancy, each student will create and take home a deliciously gooey chocolate masterpiece, perfect for sharing with family and friends—if you can resist keeping it all for yourself! Supply Fee of $16 per student payable to the instructor in class.

Friendship Connection
Friendship Connection is the district's school-age childcare program that provides care before and after school, on non-school days, and during the summer. We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and offer our students opportunities in areas such as science, engineering, creative arts, cooking, sports/fitness, language arts, and technology. Registration for School Year 2024 - 25 is currently open. Registration for School Year 2025-26 and Summer 2025 will open on February 24th. **Please inquire about open sites for School Year 2024-25 as some sites are currently on waitlists due to staffing. You may still submit a registration to be added to the site's waiting list. Please ensure you have sent any additional information required/are paid in full, so when we are able to approve registrations, we are able to process yours expeditiously. All registrations will take time to process. We will contact you if your registration is on hold due to staffing. If your site is on a waitlist due to staffing, you may still submit your registration and we will contact you with the potential start date (if staffing is available) or an update regarding the site you are enrolled at.

Phyllo Perfection: Appetizers, Mains, and Desserts

Did you know phyllo pastry can transform your cooking? Say goodbye to your fear of this delicate, paper-thin dough! In this class, we’ll explore a variety of appetizers, main dishes, and desserts made with phyllo. We'll kick things off with "phyllo kisses," a quick and easy 5-minute appetizer. Next, we'll create delicious, flaky feta cheese triangles that are perfect for entertaining—prepare them in advance and freeze until your guests arrive! For the main course, we’ll roll chicken and fresh vegetables, like broccoli in a creamy cheese sauce, in this golden, crispy pastry. And, of course, no phyllo class would be complete without baklava—loaded with nuts and drenched in sweet honey syrup.
