Parenting During Times of Community Crisis

For parents and caregivers with children age 3 - grade 3!

With specific attention to the recent ICE activity in Minnesota, this session will explore how stress, fear and uncertainty impact adults, and how stress can show up in children's emotions and behavior. With guidance from Rachael Opseth, Licensed Professional Counselor at Deep River Counseling, parents will:

  • Learn practical ways to manage their own reactions, regulate stress and stay present during difficult moments.
  • Gain age-appropriate tools for talking with children about hard or scary topics, responding to big emotions and questions, and creating a sense of safety, routine and stability.
  • Leave with concrete strategies and resources to use during times of crisis and uncertainty so they can feel more grounded, confident and steady for their children.

Register each adult participant individually. Limited spots are available for childcare; register for childcare #510a.
