Sourdough Starter Workshop *NEW!*
Learn how to care/maintain a sourdough starter, observe a bread dough making demonstration, and get answers to the most common questions made while making sourdough. You will get ALL of Sandra's tips/tricks associated with sourdough bread making focused on keeping the process simple and manageable for anyone interested in making sourdough bread. This 90 minute in-person Sourdough Starter workshop includes a fresh active starter and printed copy of the essential information for each registered participant. Chinese Calligraphy
Art
Calligraphy is the highest form of Chinese art and a fulfilling meditative practice that leaves you with beautiful writing. Appreciate the beauty of Chinese culture as you learn a few basic brush strokes of calligraphy. Circles - Felted Table Runner
Art
Create a colorful runner or wall hanging from wool fibers and a little soapy water. No knitting or sewing required, learn the magic of wet feltmaking and create a work of art for your table or wall. Inspired by vintage penny rugs and the Russian artist Kandinsky, this design looks great in any home, office or cabin. Some physical stamina needed for felting classes. $35 supply fee, payable to instructor, includes all fibers and supplies. Bring from home: 2-3 hand towels, 1 old bath towel and a plastic bag to carry home wet items. Optional: apron, bag lunch. Registration for all class sessions closes 3 days before the start date. Claymation is an exciting, hands-on creative adventure that lets students bring their imaginations to life by sculpting their own characters, designing worlds, and animating them with simple stop-motion techniques. Paired with outdoor activities, like gathering natural materials or filming in unique outdoor settings, it becomes an even more engaging experience that sparks curiosity, exploration, and fresh creative ideas. Easy to learn yet endlessly impressive, claymation offers students a fun, confidence-building way to develop storytelling, teamwork, and digital media skills while creating animations they’ll be thrilled to show off. This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before and after school. Students participating in these classes will check in with Friendship Connection, receive a snack, and have a brief recess before class begins. Each school receives one free class as part of our commitment to equity. These offerings are designed specifically to increase access for students who attend that school, especially those who may not have the financial means to participate in enrichment. To support this purpose, free classes are reserved for students enrolled at the hosting school.

Code Championship Tournament Series | Virtual Computer Coding Competition
Academic
Build a computer bot to compete against other coders! Whether you're new or experienced, this is the perfect way to explore competitive coding. No previous coding experience is necessary. The Code Championship Series is four online tournaments hosted on Google Meet. If you have a modern browser, no download is required. Players must be able to navigate the internet. The Google Meet link will be emailed two days before the tournament.

Become an active participant in fostering connection and building community in our Community Service Champions club. Make cards for the senior center, decorate bags for Meals on Wheels, help clean up the playground, and more. Making the world brighter starts with you! Gardens can be grown anywhere. Come and learn the basics of designing, selecting plants and pots, and caring for container gardens for season-long satisfaction, no matter where you grow. This class is offered by the U of M Extension Master Gardener volunteers of Ramsey County, who are eager to share research-based gardening best practices with the people in their community. *Please note: this class will be held at the U of M, Ramsey County Extension Office located at 2020 White Bear Ave., Maplewood, MN 55109 Registration for all class sessions closes 3 days before the start date. Cosmetic Scientist Day lets students explore the science behind beauty and hygiene products through fun, hands-on experiments. They’ll mix, measure, and create items like lip balm, bath bombs, and scented lotions. Students will learn how chemistry and creativity work together in product design. Working in teams, they’ll design and present their own product ideas at a mini “Cosmetic Expo.” It’s a fun way to blend STEM, art, and imagination while learning real-world science! This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before school, after school and on non-school days.

Get ready to color your world! In this vibrant art camp, students will explore all the creative possibilities crayons can offer, from melting and molding to designing their own colorful masterpieces. Each session invites kids to experiment, imagine, and bring home unique crayon art creations they’ll be excited to show off. Create Your Own Bath Bombs & Body Scrub
Art
Join us for a relaxing and sensory experience where you'll mold your own bath bombs and mix your own exfoliating body scrub. These bath bombs are a citrus basil fragrance and the sugar based body scrub is a lightly scented pink grapefruit. You'll leave this workshop with an 8oz jar of sugar scrub, 3 large bath bombs plus reusable molds and recipes. $10 supply fee payable to instructor the night of class. In this hands-on workshop, you'll be guided through the process of designing your own unique suncatcher using crushed glass and resin. We’ll cover everything from choosing your color palette to safely working with resin, and you’ll learn simple techniques to help you bring your vision to life. While it may seem difficult, you’ll discover how enjoyable and accessible this art form can be as you create your very own mosaic suncatcher or candle lantern. Start by exploring our idea book, browsing a variety of patterns and stencils, and choosing from an array of precut glass in countless colors. The first session is all about hands-on creativity—get ready to have fun and unleash your artistic side! Please note that there may be some homework assigned. On the second night, you’ll grout your masterpiece and learn skills like glass cutting, along with valuable resources for future mosaic projects.Join us for a colorful experience and bring your artistic vision to life! Let’s get decorating! In this 3-day camp, students will get the chance to create, bake, and decorate their own homemade cookies! Wednesday we will be cutting and baking cookies. Thursday we will be decorating them with frosting and sprinkles. Friday we will decorate bags for students to take their cookies home in. Please identify any food allergies or restrictions at the start of class or upon registration.
