Learn the basics of creating pottery on the wheel. This class is designed for the beginner as well as individuals who wish to continue developing their skills on the potter’s wheel. Each class will include a demonstration and independent work time. The instructor will assist you with developing basic throwing skills as well as advanced techniques. Participants will learn how to create cylinders, bowls, vases, mugs, and more. This is a great class to learn at your own pace and have fun. Learn how to care/maintain a sourdough starter, observe a bread dough making demonstration, and get answers to the most common questions made while making sourdough. You will get ALL of Sandra's tips/tricks associated with sourdough bread making focused on keeping the process simple and manageable for anyone interested in making sourdough bread. This 90 minute in-person Sourdough Starter workshop includes a fresh active starter and printed copy of the essential information for each registered participant. From lemon volcanoes and magic milk to homemade play-dough each session invites kids to uncover the “WOW!” in everyday science. Keep your body moving even when school is out! Climb, play games, and meet new friends at the Minneapolis Bouldering Project! Adventure Days are a great way to keep busy when school is out! We dive deep into a sport whose physical and mental benefits are tangible and diverse, and we have a dependable caring staff whose focus is on youth development. Adventure days are for kiddos aged 5-12. This class is for children who are getting ready to crawl, walk, move and shake! Join us for fun activities that support your child's physical development, including large and fine motor development. We'll also talk about ways to create a safe environment at home as our babies become mobile. This is a non-separating class. Ages 6-18 months as of class start date.

Multiplayer Minecraft: Master Builders with Tech Academy
Science & Technology
Online Virtual Class: Join us in this new multiplayer Minecraft class. We will go over basic, and not so basic building techniques. Then Work alone or collaboratively to complete building challenges on our Tech Academy Minecraft server. Home Technical Requirements: Computer: PC (Windows 10 or later) or Mac (OSX) with at least a 2GHz processor and 4GB of RAM Chromebooks, Tablets, and phones DO NOT Work. Internet: Broadband internet Webcam, Microphone and Speakers Zoom Installed on Computer, zoom link will be sent before class. Students should be comfortable using a PC, mouse, and keyboard. Additional Technical Requirement: Minecraft Java Edition ($30, more information will be provided before class) To ensure classes run as scheduled, registration for all Youth Enrichment programs will close the Wednesday before the start date. Step outside and discover the wonders of the natural world! Students will explore plants, wildlife, and outdoor spaces through scavenger hunts, observation challenges, and fun hands-on activities that spark curiosity and teamwork. This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before and after school. Students participating in these classes will check in with Friendship Connection, receive a snack, and have a brief recess before class begins. Each school receives one free class as part of our commitment to equity. These offerings are designed specifically to increase access for students who attend that school, especially those who may not have the financial means to participate in enrichment. To support this purpose, free classes are reserved for students enrolled at the hosting school.

Needle Felted Penguin

Join us and make your own needle felted penguins. In this workshop you'll learn the fundamentals of needle felting - a unique and simple craft that uses specialized felting needles to bind bundles of wool into fun objects and critters. Have you ever wanted to try oil painting but felt unsure about where to start? This class is a great way to learn! You’ll create a beautiful oil painting on an 8”x10” canvas while following step-by-step instructions. You’ll also learn about the paints, brushes, and other tools used in oil painting. We are excited to offer an open studio space for you to enjoy self-directed time, where you can experiment and create at your own pace. Whether you want to refine your skills or simply embrace the therapeutic process of making art, our open classroom is the perfect setting for you. Come, explore, and let your creativity shine! Bring your own supplies and take the opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and connect with fellow artists. $5.00 drop-in fee payable online, or when you arrive.
