Discover the amazing world of service animals in this two-day camp that’s all about paws, purpose, and partnership! Students will learn about the different roles that service animals play, from guiding people with visual impairments to providing comfort and assistance. On the second day, they’ll get to meet real service animals and their trainers, gaining hands-on insight into the dedication and teamwork behind these special companions. This camp is perfect for animal lovers who want to learn more about these incredible helpers and the difference they make in people’s lives. Ethiopian/Eritrean food is light, healthy and flavorful. It can range from a little spicy to very mild, and from meat to vegetarian- friendly. Discover new cooking techniques, exotic spices and ways to easily pair them with your daily ingredients like beans, lentils and vegetables, meat sautéed with flavored butter, ghee and healthy oils. Bring containers to take home leftovers. ACT Prep Workshop

ZAPS test-preparation seminars are designed to help each student do their personal best on the ACT. In the five-hour seminar, students will learn: Strategies for using partial knowledge to eliminate wrong choices Tips for improving in all four sub tests (English, Math, Reading and Science) Tactics for using limited testing time Take shortened practice tests that mirror the actual testing experience Reduce test anxiety and gain confidence Receive a comprehensive Study Guide and 24 practice test workouts with detailed answer explanations Get suggestions for individualized study in the days leading up to the test Motivational instruction and hands-on practice will help you understand your strengths and weaknesses.

Elementary Chess Club with CSGA

Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, join this club to meet and interact with other chess players in your school and play on a weekly basis. If they are new to the game, players will learn the basic rules and strategies of chess. Tournament play is encouraged outside of the club, but not required. Players are able to complete a full game and recognize a checkmate and stalemate Players can set and use a chess clock during a game Players are able to resolve a disagreement with & w/o adults present Players can explain the rules of chess (movement of the pieces, checkmate, & stalemate)

Then explore your creativity in writing your own mystery stories to stump your friends and family. Northeast Regional Open Chess Final Tournament
Academic
Elementary and secondary chess players are invited to participate in the ""NE Regional Open Chess Final". Whether you participated in a chess club or not in the fall, winter, or spring, you are invited to compete in this short, fun tournament where you can play against students representing Mounds View, St. Anthony-New Brighton and Mahtomedi school districts! Time controls will be used when necessary to keep the tournament within time constraints. The format and recognition will be based on the number of registered participants in each grade level and school. Anticipated sections will be Secondary 7th-12th, Invitational Elementary (Top Club Players), Open Elementary K-1st & 2nd-6th. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted. Tournament etiquette and procedures will be explained at the event for players new to tournament play. Players are not eliminated. Everyone plays in each round unless there is a bye because of an odd number of participants. Typically there are 4-5 rounds. Check-in will be 30 minutes before the posted start time. A great way to end of the Chess season. Concessions Available: Breakfast, Lunch & Snack Items Supervision will be provided. Parents/guardians are allow to stay, but are not allowed in the playing area and will be asked to wait in the lobby area. Mask will be required while playing across from your opponent, but optional elsewhere. This tournament is being held at Edgewood Middle School -5100 Edgewood Dr, Mounds View, MN 55112

Spanish ¡Vamos! -Spring

The best way to spark enthusiasm for a language is with a topic that students love - ¡Vamos con los animales! (Let’s go with the Animals) is just that! For eight action-packed weeks, students will blaze new trails “visiting” a pet store, a family farm, the zoo, the ocean, and even the rainforest --All the while learning brand new Spanish vocabulary, conversation skills, useful phrases, and culture topics. Let your student explore where the wild things are in our interactive bilingual classroom. Space is limited, do not wait to sign up, it may be too late - register today! Participants already registered for full year Spanish ¡Vamos! do not need to re-register, this course is for learners joining for only the spring session.

Virtual Competition Chess Club

This program is for players of all grades and ages interested in participating and competing in tournament chess, or just want their chess ability to improve to the next tactical level. Players will meet Saturday morning online for chess instruction and fun competitive play. Face to face, sanctioned tournament play is strongly encouraged as well. Expert coaching will be provided for participants at many tournaments. Perfect for students that want extra challenges beyond their school clubs. Also great for students that have a scheduling conflict with their school chess club.
