This course focuses on water skills for children ages 3 to 5 that are ready to swim on their own! Students will build on their water skills and grow their independence. Promoting water safety from a young age will help to keep your child safe as they become more self-confident and believe in their abilities. Skills taught: Enter & Exit water from side Blow bubbles with nose (humming) Bobbing Front float for 3+ seconds Back float for 3+ seconds Jelly fish float for 3+ seconds Roll from back to front Roll from front to back Front glide (one body length) Back glide (one body length) “Scooping” and kicking on front 5 feet Flutter kicking on back 5 feet Elementary backstroke arms 5 feet (w/ support) Swim, Float, Swim 10 feet (w/ support) Jump in (w/ support) Follows Directions Water Safety Skills Note: Students who are still working on potty training MUST wear appropriate swim diapers and plastic covers. Students will be turned away if not wearing the appropriate swim diapers/covers.

Introduction to Fly Fishing

Join us for a one-day session to discover the enjoyment of fly fishing. Did you know that, in addition to trout and salmon, you can catch bass, sunfish, northern pike, and muskie on a fly? Or saltwater fish like redfish, bonefish, permit, and tarpon? After taking this class, you’ll be ready to catch all those, and more, with a fly rod. You’ll finish the class knowing about: Fly rods and reels Fly lines and leaders Fly casting Fly selection Knots Safety Clothing and gear Most importantly, you’ll discover whether fly fishing is right for you! Children ages 10-15 are welcome with a parent or other participating adult.

Labor in Film: My Work, My Risk, My Sweat

Despite being advertised as romance, crime, horror, or heroism, many popular films are often revolve around work. This class will examine portrayals of working and having a job in films, drawing from critical economic, philosophical, and sociological theories of work. Various types of labor and the economic systems shaping them will be analyzed, with a particular focus on how gender and race influence onscreen representations of work. No expertise required. What is an ADL? What is "Enhanced Care"? What is "Skilled Care"? When is memory care the better option? What does living "independently" mean in a building that has a care license? Do you know what a UDALSA is? Why is this important?

The Assassination of John Kennedy: An In-Depth Analysis

During this course, we will exam the discrepancies between the Warren Commission, that investigated the assassination for ten months and published their findings in September 1964; along with the conclusions reached by the United States House of Representatives that investigated the assassination for thirty-one months and published their report in March 1979. The participants will develop a rounded perspective regarding many of the controversies surrounding the assassination of President Kennedy. Each of the sessions will have ample time for participant comments and questions.
