ZAPS test-preparation seminars are designed to help each student do their personal best on the ACT. In the five-hour seminar, students will learn: Strategies for using partial knowledge to eliminate wrong choices Tips for improving in all four sub tests (English, Math, Reading and Science) Tactics for using limited testing time Take shortened practice tests that mirror the actual testing experience Reduce test anxiety and gain confidence Receive a comprehensive Study Guide and 24 practice test workouts with detailed answer explanations Get suggestions for individualized study in the days leading up to the test Motivational instruction and hands-on practice will help you understand your strengths and weaknesses.

In this activity, students get to imagine a different conclusion for a story they’ve read. After discussing the original ending, they brainstorm new ways the story could finish—maybe the hero makes a different choice, a problem is solved in a creative way, or a surprising twist happens. Students can write their alternate ending as a short story, comic strip, or illustrated scene. This activity encourages creativity, critical thinking, and deeper understanding of the story’s plot and characters This enrichment class is run in partnership with our school-age care program, Friendship Connection, which helps us keep costs low and offer engaging opportunities before and after school. Each school receives one free class as part of our commitment to equity. These offerings are designed specifically to increase access for students who attend that school, especially those who may not have the financial means to participate in enrichment. To support this purpose, free classes are reserved for students enrolled at the hosting school.

Build a computer bot to compete against other coders! Whether you're new or experienced, this is the perfect way to explore competitive coding. No previous coding experience is necessary. The Code Championship Series is four online tournaments hosted on Google Meet. If you have a modern browser, no download is required. Players must be able to navigate the internet. The Google Meet link will be emailed two days before the tournament.

From quick-fire challenges like 5-Minute Mysteries to decoding secret messages and experimenting with invisible ink, each session will put your sleuthing skills to the test in fun and mysterious ways. This program is for players of all grades interested in participating and competing in tournament chess, or just want an extra challenge so their chess ability can improve to the next tactical level. Players will meet Saturday morning “online” for chess instruction and fun competitive play. Supervision and expert coaching will be provided for participants at in-person tournaments. Any players that participate in competitions will represent the “Roseville Chess Team” for that tournament. Perfect for students that want extra challenges. Tournament fees are an additional cost if participants choose to participate in those extra events.
