This course focuses on water skills for children ages 3 to 5 that are ready to swim on their own! Students will build on their water skills and grow their independence. Promoting water safety from a young age will help to keep your child safe as they become more self-confident and believe in their abilities. Skills taught: Enter & Exit water from side Blow bubbles with nose (humming) Bobbing Front float for 3+ seconds Back float for 3+ seconds Jelly fish float for 3+ seconds Roll from back to front Roll from front to back Front glide (one body length) Back glide (one body length) “Scooping” and kicking on front 5 feet Flutter kicking on back 5 feet Elementary backstroke arms 5 feet (w/ support) Swim, Float, Swim 10 feet (w/ support) Jump in (w/ support) Follows Directions Water Safety Skills Note: Students who are still working on potty training MUST wear appropriate swim diapers and plastic covers. Students will be turned away if not wearing the appropriate swim diapers/covers.Parents MUST remain in the building during lessons and should stay within eyesight of the pool for quick contact if needed.

Disco Splash!
Disco Splash! is back!Dance your heart out with our fun, high intensity aerobics class! Participants will do a combination of dance and water exercise while utilizing both shallow and deep water. Participants must pre-register online/over the phone or at the doorThis is a high impact exercise class that will have loud music playing in the background. Course is not recommended for those with limited mobility or joint issues and participants must be able to maintain balance without assistance for the duration of class.

Have you ever imagined a job where you can go outside everyday? Wildlife biologists, park rangers, and botanists can and do, and they all have a basic understanding of Botany, the study of plants! Take a walk outside and identify plants with a guide while learning about invasive plant species and its impact on our environment! Have you ever wanted to do something kind just to make someone smile? During Kindness Crafts, we will create special projects to spread kindness and brighten people’s days! You’ll make kindness notes, design shrinky dink keychains, write heartwarming letters, and even build a kindness board to share ways we can all be kind to one another. Let’s come together to spread joy and make a difference!

Students will explore the principles behind kite flight and discover what makes a kite soar. We'll provide all the materials and examples needed for them to design and create their own kites. Afterward, they'll have the exciting opportunity to test their creations and watch them fly right here at school! Join us for Open Swim or Lap Swim in our pool at Aŋpétu Téča Education Center! One session: $8 Five sessions: $35 Register and pay online or register and pay at the front desk at Aŋpétu Téča Education Center. Unused passes from the previous season are still valid. For any session that starts after 4:00pm or is on weekends, you must pay in advance and show confirmation at check in or pay in cash. We cannot accept credit cards during that time period. Please view our pool guidelines and safety regulations on the Aquatics FAQ page before using our facilities. One adult for every two children 14 years and younger must be present with them during swim times. Children left unattended will not be allowed to swim. The pool will be closed after 11:30 on January 24. The pool is closed January 20. There will not be lap swim or open swim on those dates. Hours are subject to change depending on staff availability.

Is your child creative and crafty? In this class, Nena will teach students how to sew! Students will learn about basic techniques, different sewing tools, types of stitches, and how to use a sewing machine. They will create a sketch of garments and sew a project of their own design. Student can work at their own pace to sew new and exciting projects!

Let's Probate an Actual Minnesota Estate

In this class we will walk-thru (in depth) an actual Minnesota Probate Estate from the filing of the Application for Probate to the Final Accounts . . . and all the steps in between. Class participants will learn the entire process with current forms, Court and filing requirements, accounting and procedural steps, as well as the procedures for the sale and distribution of estate assets. We will also discuss the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of a person who is appointed as the Executor/Personal Representative. The class will be filled with real-life examples and solutions to the multitude of issues involving a typical (or not typical) Minnesota Probate Estate. This class encourages questions: Is there a “reading of the Will”? What about personal items? Does the Executor get paid? What about estate bills and creditors? We will provide the answers. Linocut Relief Printing
Art
Realize your true artistic abilities by learning how to create linocuts. With all forms of printmaking, it’s easy to print one image multiple times, with each print varying just slightly in appearance. By caving images into a linoleum block, you will carve out your place in the world of printmaking, rising to the ranks of other great print artists. Friendship Connection
Friendship Connection is the district's school-age childcare program that provides care before and after school, on non-school days, and during the summer. We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and offer our students opportunities in areas such as science, engineering, creative arts, cooking, sports/fitness, language arts, and technology. Registration for School Year 2024 - 25 is currently open. Registration for School Year 2025-26 and Summer 2025 will open on February 24th. **Please inquire about open sites for School Year 2024-25 as some sites are currently on waitlists due to staffing. You may still submit a registration to be added to the site's waiting list. Please ensure you have sent any additional information required/are paid in full, so when we are able to approve registrations, we are able to process yours expeditiously. All registrations will take time to process. We will contact you if your registration is on hold due to staffing. If your site is on a waitlist due to staffing, you may still submit your registration and we will contact you with the potential start date (if staffing is available) or an update regarding the site you are enrolled at.
