Keep calm and relax by learning the art of mandala rocks. In this workshop, you will learn the history and meaning behind mandala art, and apply that knowledge to creating your own mandala rock art. Enjoy a blast from the past with the once again popular art form, macramé. A fixture of every 1970's home, this art form is making a come back on the contemporary art scene. In this project, participants will learn a variety of knot-tying techniques to create a unique macramé plant shelf perfect for any home. Every year the Minnesota State Fair showcases seed mosaics created by artists all over the state. In our seed mosaic workshop, participants will continue this great tradition by creating their own works of seed art. Participants will learn about the history and techniques of mosaic art and create a design of their own. Once completed, participants will share their designs with their fellow seed artists and share this Minnesotan art form with their family and friends! Realize your true artistic abilities by learning how to create linocuts. With all forms of printmaking, it’s easy to print one image multiple times, with each print varying just slightly in appearance. By caving images into a linoleum block, you will carve out your place in the world of printmaking, rising to the ranks of other great print artists. Gelli prints offer an exciting new take on monoprinting! In this class, you'll explore nontraditional printmaking techniques as you create a series of unique prints using gelatin plates. By combining natural materials, stencils, and paint, you'll have the opportunity to experiment with layers and delve into the beauty of organic shapes and textures.
