K-2 ELPIS Birdfeeder Workshop

Youth Enrichment / Field Trips & Non-School Days -
Summer 2025

With the guidance of Elpis staff, students will have the opportunity to build bird feeders and nesting boxes using reclaimed cedar wood from old fences. They’ll learn how to use the right tools, figure out the assembly steps, and watch their projects come to life!

Elpis is a local non-profit that provides job training, work experience, and employment placement services for young people experiencing homelessness, teen parenting, or involvement in the foster care system. Elpis woodworking trainees manufacture ready-to-assemble project kits, like the kits our students used to make their bird feeders. Elpis interns and staff then lead experiential workshops using the pre-cut materials.
