Dance your heart out with our new high intensity aerobics class! This is a combination of different dance styles and water exercise to help burn off calories to different themed days. This is a higher impact exercise class that will have loud music playing in the background. Participants must be able to maintain balance without assistance for the duration of class. Course is not recommended for those with limited mobility or joint issues. Participants must pre-register online/over the phone or pay cash at the door.

Defensive Driving
Improve your driving skills and get a discount on your personal auto insurance. The Defensive Driving Course, developed by the National Safety Council, teaches basic crash prevention techniques and has a proven record of reducing traffic violations and incidents. It's taught by experienced, professional traffic safety instructors, including officers of the Minnesota State Patrol. The class consists of lecture, films and discussions. There is no behind-the-wheel driving and there are no tests. Preregistration is required at least two weeks prior to the class date.

Adult Conversational Spanish: Let's Chat!

Are you seeking opportunities to practice speaking Spanish? If so, this is the class for you! Instructors will engage participants each week with real-life conversation scenarios to encourage chatting and conversation. Conversation topics include 'un poco de todo' a little of everything and everyday Spanish. In this dynamic and hands-on class, participants will practice useful Spanish vocabulary and conversation components that can be applied to the home, workplace, travel, leisure, etc. Start speaking Spanish today! Open to new and previous Spanish conversation participants. Basic computer experience and the ability to access zoom is required. Option 1~ for beginner level participants Option 2~ for intermediate and advanced level participants *Please choose the option that best describes your skill level to be placed with participants for matching level conversation abilities and practices.Applicable to new students and previous Intermediate Spanish conversation participants.

Online registration is available until 4:00 p.m. the day prior to session. Schedules will be posted weekly. *Preregistration required. Limit of 24 participants. Current Schedule: Mondays/Wednesdays, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. OPEN PICKLEBALL (No Instructor) Pickleball is a fun and popular game that is a combination of several classic games - badminton, tennis and table tennis! It is easy for beginners of all ages to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced game for experienced players. People of all ages and athletic abilities will find that pickleball is an enjoyable sport with straightforward rules. Open play means that all players of any skill level are invited to play on the courts. Players rotate in and out of games to ensure everyone has the opportunity to play. Bring your own paddle, game balls and nets are provided (limited number of extra paddles available). 3 courts available for play. Follow the pickleball rules and guidelines stated in the USAPA rulebook. Court shoes must be worn. Open to ages 18+. No refunds will be issued for non-attendance. Fees are non-transferable and cannot be applied to another day. Be courteous of all skill levels and enjoy playing! No reserved courts.

Fitness
All Around Fitness focuses on exercise techniques for older adults, but is open to all. Includes strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, balance and flexibility. Work at your own pace and receive personal attention from a trained instructor. This online Zoom class can be done in the comfort of your home.

American Heart Association CPR, AED & First Aid

THREE OPTIONS AVAILABLE: CPR/AED Only (9:00 AM - 11:30 AM): This CPR/AED class gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing and cardiac emergencies until advanced medical personnel arrive. This American Heart Association course certifies individuals in CPR/AED for adults, children and infants is nationally recognized and valid for two years. First Aid Only (11:30 AM - 2:30 PM): First Aid covers any emergency that does not require the use of CPR. Topics covered in this American Heart Association course include recognition and treatment for heart attacks, stroke, diabetic emergencies, allergic reactions as well as first aid treatments to wounds, fractures, burns and other common injuries. CPR/AED/First Aid (9:00 AM - 2:30 PM): This class combines CPR, AED and First Aid Training into one convenient session. Lay Responder CPR/AED with First Aid teaches the skills necessary to recognize and provide immediate care for breathing problems, cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until medical personnel arrive. Participants will be certified by the American Heart Association for: Standard First Aid and CPR/AED for adults, children and infants. This course meets the Rule 2 and 3 requirements for childcare providers. Intended Audience: Teachers, Daycare Providers, Coaches, Office Workers, new parents, or anyone who wants or needs to learn the life-saving skills of CPR and are not a healthcare professional (healthcare professionals are required to take the more advanced BLS Healthcare Provider CPR course). Feel free to bring a lunch or snack.

Beginner Watercolor Painting I
Art
Explore the wonder of watercolor painting by learning fundamentals and techniques of this exciting medium. This course is intended for the novice to beginner; you do not need prior experience to enroll in this class. There will be a set curriculum to help you understand and feel comfortable as you discover your artistic journey using watercolors. This 5 session course will begin with a few painting exercises and finish with two completed paintings. Supply list can be found here. Course Objective: Plan to experiment and explore the traditional water color painting techniques – In this case we will be studying the personality of watercolor. What makes the watercolor do what it wants to do? This class is for the first time painter or someone who has tried watercolor before but would like to get a better understanding of how it works. Our goal is to have at least one excellent painting by the end of the session. Plan to have group critiques and discussions throughout the session. Please come prepared to discuss: Your level of experience: Novice, Beginner, etc., what art is for you, what makes a good painting, why you want to be a painter, your interest, hobbies, and just all around conversations. Our first day: We will have brief introductions to include: a discussion about the questions above, why is it called watercolor and not colored water? Getting ready to paint, and dabbling in a few watercolor painting exercises. Please bring materials with you as stated above in the supply list.

Beginner Watercolor Painting II

This class is an extension of Beginning Watercolor I. In this class you will continue with beginning watercolor exercises that were learned in the Beginning I class. You can expect to complete 3-4 paintings. This class is open to any student that has taken the first beginning class from me and anyone who has a basic/general knowledge of watercolor painting. Supply list can be found here. Course Objective: Plan to experiment and explore the next level of traditional water color painting techniques – In this cases we will be continuing with the lessons from Beginning I class. This class is meant for those who have experience in watercolor painting. Our goal is to have at least 3 excellent paintings by the end of the session. Plan to have at least one group critique about mid way through the session. Please come prepared to discuss: what art is for you, what makes a good painting, why you want to be a painter, your interest, hobbies, and just all around conversations. Our first day: We will have brief introductions to include a discussion about our artistic styles. We will discuss what subjects we would like to paint, what specific painting style you would like to explore and other great insights that may arise.

The instructor LeeAnne Krusemark is a former journalist, current author and editor, and a nationwide Professor of Publishing at higher learning institutions, including Harvard Adult Education. The webinar login information will be emailed the day before class.

Beginning Apparel Sewing

Build on your sewing skills and learn how to read and use a pattern to create a garment of your choice in class. Classes consist of group instruction and demonstrations to further explore terms, techniques, and materials as well as time to work on your own project with instructor guidance. Week 1, bring sewing machine and basic supplies.Week 2, students will meet at a local fabric store. Week 3-6, bring sewing machine, supplies, and project materials. Students should be comfortable threading and using their sewing machine. *Under age 18 must be enrolled with an adult. Supplies Needed: sewing machine in good working order with bobbins and needles scissors tape measure pins ruler/ seam gauge seam ripper fabric marking pen or pencil project materials - please budget $25-$50 for pattern, fabric, and notions for your class project. Cost will vary with project choice.

Make an embroidery sampler as we learn the basic embroidery stitches. Whether you are just starting out or picking up the hoop after a long time away, this is a great place to start. Please bring a wooden embroidery hoop, size 1-5 embroidery needle, scissors, and a few skeins of embroidery floss in your favorite colors. Pre-printed fabric cloth will be provided.
