Planning a trip to Sweden? Have Swedish roots and want to learn more about the culture? This class is available to anyone interested in beginning to learn Swedish. You will learn everything from the alphabet to basic phrases, as well as a chance to learn about some of the Swedish culture and etiquette when traveling to Scandinavia.
Annika Eriksson is from MN, but has strong roots from Sweden. Her grandfather was a Swedish immigrant so she grew up with Swedish culture from day one. Annika also spent a portion of her childhood in Sweden where she was immersed in the language and became fluent. In the US, Annika has taught Swedish at Concordia Language Villages Swedish camp, Sjölunden, in both the youth and adult programs. Additionally, she specializes in traditional Swedish folk music and has directed a Swedish fiddle group for youth through the American Swedish Institute which toured to Sweden in 2008. Outside of her Swedish activities, Annika is a licensed K-12 music teacher and has taught orchestra and private violin lessons for over 10 years. Annika understands the challenges in learning a new language and finds joy in helping and encouraging people learn!
